MORE CYNICAL RANDOM THOUGHTS!

POLITICAL ENDORSEMENTS: The current Republican Party Primary Campaigns is fascinating to watch. It started out with six or seven candidates, (it's hard to keep track,) running for their party's nomination to run against President Obama in the fall. During the debates the candidates attacked each other's character and fitness for office due to some misstep that occurred decades before. They hurl innuendos and insinuations which may or may not have any basis in fact and try to cast their opponents in a negative light. Don't they realize that they are providing ammunition to the opposing party which is sure to be used in the upcoming general election?
Ronald Reagan, when he ran for office, urged his fellow republicans to observe the 11th Commandment "Thou Shalt Speak No Evil of a Fellow Republican."
Here's what I find to be so curious. When one of these republicans dropped out of the race, they endorsed a person who days earlier they argued should not be elected. Were they lying before or are they lying now?  Do they think that "We the People" are that stupid?

POLITICAL ECONOMICS: The average cost to run for Congress is millions of dollars. This is for a job that pays $175,000.00 per year. A cynical person might suspect that our elected representatives get more out of holding office than just a pay check. A cynical person might suspect that the reasons these men and women seek office is more than an altruistic desire to serve "We the People."
The average campaign for the U.S. Congress spent between 3 Million and 6 Million dollars. The average Senate campaign spent marginally more, 5 Million to 8 Million dollars. A couple of Senate campaigns spent over 50 Million Dollars for the office.
There is something very rotten in the state of Denmark.

POLITICAL CONTRIBUTIONS: The U.S. Congress passed a law that sought to limit the amount of money that could be donated to a political campaign. The U.S. Supreme Court ruled that major sections of that law was unconstitutional and therefore illegal. That decision by the Court essentially gutted the law rendering it mostly ineffective.
Political Action Committees (PAC's) are able to spend huge sums of money to buy advertising time and support a particular candidate or a particular issue. These PACs can also spend huge sums of money speaking out against a particular candidate or a particular issue. I'm sure all of you have seen these commercials on TV, if you had the patience not to "click" past them. Interestingly though, is these commercials do not have to be accurate or truthful. If they are not accurate or truthful there is little to nothing that can be done about it.
Another interesting phenomena is that large companies and corporations often contribute large sums of money to each campaign, so whoever wins...they're on the winning side. It kinda begs the question...What do they get that makes the contributions a worthwhile business expenditure?
"We the People"
HERE'S THE THING: Citizenship in our republic imposes certain responsibilities upon "We the People." We have the responsibility to become informed and make our voices be heard by voting. We have the responsibility to hold our elected representatives accountable to all of "We the People" and not just a privileged segment thereof. We have the responsibility to exercise our liberty in such a way that it does not detract from our neighbors' liberty or cause them any harm.
I urge you my fellow citizens to look beyond all the noise and try to discern the truth. Please make your voice heard and vote. Finally, please pray continually for our nation, for it's service- men and woman, for our elected representatives.
GOD BLESS AMERICA!

  1. The problem is that no one in their right mind would want to run for office anymore because of the attacks so if no one in their right mind wants the office, then we are already left with dimwits and the choice is who is the best of the rest....sometimes that is not much of a choice. Still, it's an honor to vote and I do.

    1. I don not think Mitt, or Newt, or Obama dimwits. If fact they are dangerously intelligent. The problem is they under estimate "we the people" 's intelligence. I would like to have faith in people not to vote on whose commercials they liked best or least.
