WINTER'S LAST GASPS HODGEPODGE!

This will be the last Hodgepodge of the winter of 2013/2014. Joyce has come up with a bunch of thought provoking questions, some of which are difficult. Won't you join in on the fun. Copy the questions over to your blog and answer them. You'll get hooked just like I was. In any event, please...enjoy!

1.  Thursday marks the first day of spring...to celebrate would you rather plant a garden or go for a walk in the woods? Would either of those activities be possible on Thursday where you live?
Neither of these activities would be possible due to the eighteen inches of snow that still remains in our backyard. If it were possible, however, I would take a walk in the woods and then plant a garden.

2. When did someone last spring something on you? (or when did you last spring something on someone?
I've got nothing! I can't remember the last time something was sprung on me. I don't spring stuff on others, especially my beloved SWMBO!

3.  We often think of spring as a time for new beginnings. What's something you'd like to start doing this spring?
I need to exercise more so I'd like to start riding my 10-speed bicycle more. I also should blog more often. Those are two things I'd like to begin anew.

4. Where do you like to sit in a movie theatre? When did you last sit there, and what were you watching?
Because I have long legs SWMBO and I sit in the top row at the top of the stairs so I have ample leg room to stretch out. We don't go to movies often but the last time we did go was to see Iron Man 3.

5. When you meet someone for the very first time, what do you want them to think about you?
I would like people to think that I am kind, polite and fun to be around.

6. March is frozen food month (yes, really!). Besides ice cream (gotta make you think a little) what's your most often purchased frozen food item?
SWMBO and I buy frozen vegetables a lot. We love stews and stir fry meals. Frozen veggies are perfect for either one.

7. What's something you avoid?
Confrontation, pointless arguments and of course, manual labor!

8. Insert your own random thought here.
You may recall that in a prior post I mentioned the death knells of the winter season. The Super Bowl is the first. Next comes the pitchers and catchers reporting for MLB spring training. After that comes St. Patricks Day. The final death knell is the NCAA Basketball Tournament known as "March Madness." Well, the game brackets have been published and the tournament is about to kick off, or should I say Tip Off marking the end of another winter. This has been a difficult winter because of the persistent cold and copious snowfall.
I for one am glad to see this winter pass into the history books. DIE WINTER! DIE!

  2. I think everyone will agree with your statement, "Die winter, die!" It's been a long, hard one for everyone (even those of us in the south). I hope you'll be able to take that walk very soon!

  3. You are not alone in your desire for winter to end already. At least the calendar is saying spring. Now we just need the weather to get the memo : ) Enjoy your day!

  4. Altho we didn't get snow down in the Coastal area of Texas, it sure was cold...unseasonably cold for us. Near the freezing mark...for several days....growing up in Colorado mountains...snow nearly year 'round... And I for one completely totally understand your desire for warm days ahead...soon.

You and I both chose the top row in the theater for different reasons...but Bud would agree with you on the leg room.

And your answer to #5 is probably just what they all think of you!!

    1. Way too much of the southern tier got frozen precipitation this winter. Freezing rain, sleet, light snow…the south is not prepared adequately to deal with slick roadways and associated problems.
Thanks for stopping by and for your kind words.

  5. That is a TON of snow! Do you think you'll ever thaw out? I had to laugh at your comment about what I wrote concerning our daughter's boyfriend. My husband often jokes that he should be cleaning his guns every time he comes over. ;)

    1. I'm sure we'll thaw out…it may be June before we do, but we will thaw out.
Being as big as I am and being a police officer induced my daughters suitors to be very respectful to her and coincidentally to me and SWMBO as well.
Thanks for stopping by. God bless you with wisdom and patience.

  6. I don't like surprises either, including people dropping by unannounced.
